Tax officials in Colorado have announced that marijuana sales hit nearly $700 million in 2014, the first year of legalization since the law took effect January 1, 2014. Nearly half ($313 million) was in recreational pot sales; the rest, medicinal.
Colorado’s new Marijuana Enforcement Division said almost 50 tons of medicinal pot was sold, and about 18 tons were sold for recreational use. Surprisingly, edibles outsold medicinal weed by nearly a million units.
