Best Weed Cookies
Print RecipeIngredients
- 4.5 ounces of butter or margarine
- 4 - 5 grams of dried cannabis
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup caster sugar
- One egg
- One teaspoon of vanilla essence
- Pinch of salt
- 8.5 ounces of chocolate chips
- 1 and 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
Instructions
Step 1. Preheat the oven and prepare your cannabis
First, you’ll need to prepare your cannabis for cooking by decarboxylating it. Deoxycarbonation occurs when you heat cannabis to the point of combustion. This causes THCA to become THC, which is the cannabis compound responsible for getting you high.
When you bake cannabis into cookies, you don’t decarboxylate cannabis like you would if you smoked or vaped it. To remedy this and preserve the psychoactivity of your cannabis through baking, you will need to decarboxylate your cannabis before cooking.
Home-decarboxylation sounds tricky, but it’s actually pretty easy. Simply turn your oven to 210°F, lay your cannabis on a tray with baking paper, and bake for 30 minutes. Then, take your cannabis out of the oven and turn it up to 350°F for the cookies.
If your cannabis is not pre-ground, use a grinder to grind it finely. If you’re looking for a grinder recommendation, try this one from Cali Crusher.
Step 2. Prepare your cannabutter
There are many ways to infuse your cookies with weed, from using CBD oil to spicing things up with a tincture. However, the cannabutter method is the most tried-and-true method – so we’ll use cannabutter in this recipe.
To prepare your cannabutter, place a small saucepan over a low flame. Add your butter or margarine to the saucepan and melt completely. Stirring gently, add your ground cannabis to the mixture.
Stir for a further 30 seconds and remove the mixture from the stovetop.
Step 3. Mix your ingredients
Transfer your cannabutter into a large mixing bowl and strain it to remove cannabis lumps. Add the brown sugar, caster sugar, egg, vanilla essence, and salt to the bowl. Stir gently until the mixture is thoroughly combined. Then, add your chocolate chips and flour into the bowl gradually – mixing as you go.
Step 4. Roll out cookies and bake
Line two oven trays with baking paper. Using your hands, roll a tablespoon of cookie dough into a ball, then place it on the tray. Use a spoon to press the cookie dough into a flat pancake-like shape.
When your trays are complete, bake them in the oven for 8 – 12 minutes. For best results, bake your cookie trays one at a time on the center oven shelf.
